SIGCHI is the premier international society for professionals, academics and students who are interested in human-technology & human-computer interaction (HCI).

The ACM SIGCHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems is the premier international conference on human-computer interaction.

Multiple sessions in parallele were recorded at the last CHI 2013 conference in Paris using Triskel webcasting platform.

Klewel at the London Excel Exhibition and Convention Centre

This week, Klewel has the chance to be in London UK for ESPGHAN 2013. What is ESPGHAN? This is the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. This is an international, professional and scientific society which seeks to influence the standards of care for patients and families.

Founded in 1968 the society has over 600 members who are paediatric gastroenterologists, hepatologists and nutritionists, as well as scientists in relevant fields. ESPGHAN also has members who are trainees, nurses and dieticians to ensure that this growing multi-disciplinary approach improves the outcomes for children in Europe.

ESPGHAN has five standing Committees focusing on:

  • Gastroenterology – aiming to promote child health free from gastrointestinal diseases
  • Hepatology – aiming to promote high quality hepatology practice in infants, children and adolescents
  • Nutrition – aiming to promote high quality nutritional practice in infants, children and adolescents
  • Allied Health Professionals – aiming to enhance the multidisciplinary approach to the care of children in Europe
  • Trainees – aiming to promote and support specialist training in paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition throughout Europe

This important medical event takes place in the new Excel Exhibition and Convention Centre in London UK.

MOOCs, EPFL and Africa

What is the link between MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), EPFL (Swiss Federal School of Technology) and Africa?

On April 15, 2013, Jonathan Ledgard gave a talk on this topic. Jonathan Ledgard is Africa correspondant at large of THE ECONOMIST, Landolt Chair in Future Africa at EPFL.

His talk was entitled “SPIES, SQUID AND FUTURE AFRICA: MOOCs and beyond. What are the prospects for MOOCs produced by EPFL in Africa.

When he talks about “SPIES, SQUID AND FUTURE AFRICA”, that can be decoded as “POLITICS, NATURAL LIMITS and YOUTH”.

CICG celebrated its 40th birthday

CICG celebrated its 40 years anniversary. In 2013 the International Conference Centre Geneva enters its fortieth year, and seeks greater visibility.

The CICG has reviewed and adapted its visual identity, so as to include within one unique symbol the intrinsic values of its professionalism and its sense of hospitality, dynamism, modularity, flexibility and impartiality. The colour red, unmistakably linked to the CICG since its creation, represents its experience and “Swissness”, while also reinforcing the image of Geneva as an international destination.
This new logo is a true signature, and symbolizes the experience and commitment of management and staff towards the clients, suppliers and partners of the CICG for the years to come.
